BACKGROUND
ABOUT ME
Born and raised in Munster, Indiana, I follow my passion, I am led by my values, and I build upon my skills with every adventure I take on. The base of who I am is in my volunteer experience with the Carmelite Orphanage where, for six years, I kept re-learning what it meant to not live the privileged life I had and was forced to think about how the world is and what I can do to make it better. In high school, I joined the yearbook staff. Here I learned how to use the Adobe Creative Suites, understood publication design, and was nationally recognized for our work. However, all of that was a byproduct of the physical labor. From my time on that staff, I learned to be curious; I learned to ask the questions that mattered. To this day, I take the simplest of ideas and I have the ability to investigate it with deep passion by asking questions that seem simple on the surface but dig out the deepest of truths. This skill of curiosity is one that I have used for several years, specifically when reading articles. Today, I am an active reader of newspapers and deeply interested in what is going on in the world. My international outlook began to expand when I spent seven weeks in Spain in a language and cultural immersion program though the Indiana University Honors Program for Foreign Language. Today, I am on the path to earn my Spanish minor alongside my computer science degree.
ACHIEVEMENT
ASPIRATION
ABILITY
Competition is a part of a healthy environment that encourages growth and perseverance. Over the years, I have been recognized for my work in various activities I have been a part of. My recreational photography passion was awarded when I received an honorable mention in Photographer’s Forum High School & College Photography Competition in 2013 and honorable mention in the Best In Show in 2014. On my high school yearbook staff, I was recognized on a state level with the Hoosier Star and Indiana Pacemaker, and on a national level with Best In Show for two years in a row for the work I did on the 2014 and 2015 Munster High School Paragon staff. I also gained valuable business experience when I was a state qualifier for three years in a row with DECA. Upon leaving high school, I was granted a Type B Air Force ROTC scholarship and entered IUPUI. I spent the first semester of college traveling to IU Bloomington to train with their Air Force ROTC Detachment 215. During my second semester of college, I chosen to attend the TechPoint Xtern Bootcamp at Marion University over the summer of 2017.
Computer science is the study of machines and its languages. I am currently studying the theory behind how a machine works, it is all a puzzle and that is what attracted me to the field. From Sudoku to even figuring out the ending of a movie before it happens - I have always loved solving the puzzle. The intrigue, the mystery, and the curiosity of what is happening is appealing to me and it drives me. It is what helped me master the Spanish language and it is driving force behind my computer science major. My thirst to learn is what enables me to learn new things quickly and what makes me a good worker.
My career goals are based on helping as many people as I can. As I work through my schooling, I push through the bad days and the tough tests to get to the job that I want, to get to the life that I want. I know that at the end of the day, I am working towards a career that is intriguing, challenging, and satisfying.
